City Council Unanimously Approves New Zoning Code
Philadelphia City Council voted 17-0 to approve the City’s new zoning code on December 15th. The new code will increase predictability for developers, homeowners and neighborhoods, and advance appropriate development. Our understanding is the Mayor will have a bill signing ceremony on December 22nd in the Mayor's Reception Room in City Hall, and the new code will go into effect in August 2012. In the interim, the City will work to put new regulations in place, address sign controls, provide training to city officials and outside stakeholders who will be using the new code, and prepare for the remapping process.
PACDC would like to thank its members for providing the Zoning Code Commission with constructive, on-the-ground feedback during its four years of work, and for educating key stakeholders on the importance of zoning code reform.
