Technically Media, a local niche news and events organization best known for its local tech news network Technical.ly and social impact site Generocity.org, is hiring a Generocity Editor to oversee the site’s daily publishing and community engagement. Generocity reports on people, trends and best practices of the Greater Philadelphia region’s social impact sector (i.e. nonprofits, philanthropy, social enterprises, local government, impact investing, activism).
The Generocity Editor will be a person with exceptional news and community building instincts who will shape and execute the site’s editorial strategy and model. They will manage several freelance contributing reporters, write a few articles per week and help set the strategy and tactics that are meaningful for a modern newsroom.
We believe that journalism is a necessary act for strengthening any community. Our newsroom builds trust with nonprofit, philanthropic and civic pros and social impact entrepreneurs, helping these leaders and others navigate their careers with insight and strengthen their organizations with insight into the trends of a changing sector.
The ideal candidate has experience in and a willingness to experiment with new media and is interested in supporting and learning from a community journalism enterprise — an organization building a business model around making connections, including via jobs, education and more. Our newsroom pledges to be accurate, relevant and productive for the communities we serve. Plus, as a small, growing news media startup, we’re probably more fun than your traditional editorial role.
Presently Generocity is published in one local market. We aim to publish 2-3 items per day, including sponsored and marketing content — or 10-15 items across the site per week.
