What’s Next in the Arts? Creative Conversation Symposium 2019

Drexel University URBN Annex
Oct 26, 2019 11:00am - 3:30pm

Emerging Arts Leaders: Philadelphia’s Creative Conversation is our flagship event, a mini-symposium held in October in chorus with emerging arts leaders networks throughout the country as encouraged by Americans for the Arts.

Our seventh annual Creative Conversation will feature engaging keynote and breakout presentations, as well as opportunities for attendees to share their thoughts.

Our keynote speaker, Stanford Thompson, is a musician and educator who serves as the Founder and Executive Director of Play On Philly, bringing music education to students in underserved areas throughout Philadelphia. Recognized as a TED Fellow, Stanford believes that music education is a powerful tool for positive personal and community change.
What’s next in the arts? Solve Philadelphia’s most compelling problems, create healthier dialogue in our society, and foster mutual understanding and respect throughout our communities. Using the story of Play On Philly’s impact, Stanford will challenge conventional thinking, action and impact throughout the arts sector and encourage our artists and arts leaders to take the path less traveled.

Breakout Session Presenters:
– Jacqueline Goldfinger, Playwright and Founder of PAGE BY PAGE
– Liz Green, Mental Health Worker and Director of OnStage Seniors: A Community Project of McCarter Theatre
– Shekhinah B., Executive Director of The Women’s Coalition for Empowerment, Inc.

Schedule for the day includes a keynote presentation, lunch & networking, and 2 breakout sessions.
