Community Ventures seeks Financial Controller

Organizational Overview: 

Community Ventures is a non-profit developer of affordable housing and other mixed-use projects in Philadelphia. It was incorporated in 1987 with the mission of entering into joint venture redevelopment efforts with locally-based organizations. Community Ventures works with its partners, most often neighborhood organizations, over a period of several years, planning and building a critical mass of housing and mixed-use development to stabilize and improve the local community. At every stage of production, from project planning through the sale or rental of the new homes, Community Ventures strives to bring the greatest possible improvement to the neighborhoods in which we work, to expand and preserve Philadelphia’s stock of high-quality affordable housing and to maximize environmental sustainability.

Position Overview:

The chosen candidate will take a leadership role in all financial decision-making and operations that affect the organization. Reporting directly to the Executive Director (ED), the Controller will provide strategic financial input to the ED and other development and management staff, while closely overseeing the overall accounting process for both CV and for the eight limited partnerships that are either wholly-owned by CV or under its management and control. The Controller will provide accounting, budgetary, operational and programmatic support to all organizational activities, including to the individual partnerships—implementing and further developing financial procedures as necessary for all entities. The Controller will further manage the production and delivery of periodic reports and compliance documentation to the funders and equity partners for each of the partnerships. The Controller will further serve as an active member of the development team, producing pro forma budgets and managing project cash flow during the development & construction period.
