Organizational Overview:
Formed in 2001, GBU’s mission is to foster transformative impact in our communities through green building education and advocacy. GBU is a 501c3 nonprofit organization with more than 500 members, and work areas divided among education, policy and advocacy, and strategic initiatives.
GBU is funded through an even mix of memberships and corporate partnerships, major events, and grants and contracts. GBU is governed by a 20+ person Board of Directors and currently has five fulltime staff. GBU’s staff works collaboratively and engages frequently with the Board and other
volunteers.
Position Overview:
Green Building United’s executive director is a strong leader and visionary who ensures the overall health, growth, and sustainability of the organization. The ideal candidate has experience interacting and collaborating with a broad group of stakeholders and can motivate others to
successfully achieve common goals. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the executive director supports the creation and successful implementation of GBU’s strategic plan, including the organization’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts and all annual work plans and progress reporting.
