Housing Alliance of Pennsylvania seeks Housing Alliance of Pennsylvania VISTACorps

Organizational Overview:

In Pennsylvania, there are only 39 affordable and available rental units per 100 extremely low-income households. The Housing Alliance of Pennsylvania’s mission is to work to provide leadership and a common voice for policies, practices and resources to ensure that all Pennsylvanians, especially those with low incomes, have access to safe, decent and affordable homes. The Housing Alliance promotes common-sense solutions to balance Pennsylvania’s housing market and increase the supply of safe, decent homes for low-income people.

Position Overview:

The Housing Alliance is looking for two (2) highly motivated, self-starter individuals to be part of its Housing Capacity AmeriCorps VISTA team, working on affordable housing, homelessness, eviction, and blight issues across Pennsylvania. The AmeriCorps VISTA team will help the Housing Alliance build its capacity in working with rural communities and mid-size cities. The AmeriCorps VISTA team will receive direction and one-on-one support from the Housing Alliance staff but must be able to work independently, communicate effectively and compassionately with members of the Pennsylvania’s communities, and work independently. One AmeriCorps member will be based out of the Housing Alliance’s Pittsburgh office and one will be based out of the Philadelphia office. The Housing Alliance is currently working in a remote environment due to COVID-19. However, that may change in the future and/or office provisions may be required for AmeriCorps VISTAS per federal requirements of the AmeriCorps program. AmeriCorps VISTAs serve full-time for one year, beginning on August 30, 2021.
