Housing Alliance of Pennsylvania seeks Housing Capacity VISTA

The Housing Alliance of Pennsylvania is a statewide coalition working to provide leadership and a common voice for policies, practices, and resources to ensure that all Pennsylvanians, especially those with low incomes, have access to safe, decent, and affordable homes. We promote practical solutions to balance Pennsylvania’s housing market. We engage people with lived experiences and the organizations that serve them to elevate the dialogue for public policy solutions to Pennsylvania’s affordable housing crisis.

The Housing Capacity VISTA team works on affordable housing, homelessness, eviction, and blight issues across Pennsylvania. The VISTA team will help the Housing Alliance build its capacity in working with rural communities and mid-size cities.

Summary of Duties:
– Develop, plan, and organize outreach and engagement activities and events.
– Supporting, establishing, and strengthening partnerships within the Housing Alliance’s network of members, specifically those in rural communities and mid-size cities as well as community groups, local governments, and persons with lived experience.
– Conduct data collection, analysis and research.
– Promote best practices in addressing affordable housing issues that could be replicable or expanded in Pennsylvania.
– Research housing solutions that could benefit low income individuals and families, persons experiencing homelessness, and low-income communities in Pennsylvania.

One VISTA member will work from the Housing Alliance’s Pittsburgh office and one will work from the Philadelphia office. VISTAs serve full-time for one year, beginning on September 8, 2020.
