New Kensington CDC seeks Lead Community Health Worker

New Kensington Community Development Corporation (NKCDC) is seeking a Lead Community Health Worker (CHW) to support the Community Health Workers program. The Lead CHW will be the point person to assist trainees with carrying out the duties of the Health Enterprise Zone grant during training and employment. The Lead CHW will aid the Workforce Development Manager and NKCDC partners to support newly on-boarded CHWs with internship and future employment opportunities.

Function

The Lead CHW will support the work of the CHW training goals associated with: training preparation for new in-coming cohort, orientation process assistance for new trainees, and aiding instructors with CHW training program. Post-training, the Community Engagement and Outreach Specialist will aid newly on- boarded CHW’s with surveying and survey data collection. Community Engagement and Outreach Specialist in a team environment are expected to help newly trained CHWs to engage neighbors to assess quality of life needs such as: housing, utilities, repairs, physical and mental health needs, nutrition, and childcare resources, trauma informed care trainings, professional development, free workshops, financial counseling, wellness programs and much more. Community Engagement and Outreach Specialist will provide mentoring to newly on-boarded CHW employees with ideas for surveying opportunities such as door-to-door and events and workshops. Community Engagement and Outreach Specialist build and strengthen relationships between internship partners and NKCDC, with hopes of creating future employment opportunities with other organizations for CHWs.

Compensation

The CHW Lead pays $18/hour, 35 hours per week, with excellent benefits including HMO health plan, long- and short-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid vacation, and 403(b) retirement plan. This position will be located on-site at our main office, 2771 Ruth Street, Suite 1, Philadelphia, PA 19134, but may require significant remote work per City of Philadelphia pandemic safety restrictions.
