New Kensington Community Development Corporation (NKCDC) is a community development corporation committed to sustainable development in housing opportunities, economic development, vacant land strategies, community engagement, and real estate development. NKCDC advances social equity and economic empowerment by nurturing and creating opportunities for residents to live and actively shape their neighborhoods of choice. To that end, NKCDC provides free housing counseling to anyone in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and offers many additional resources to residents and businesses in the Kensington, Fishtown, and Port Richmond neighborhoods.
The Director of Health and Wellness will be responsible for overseeing and integrating three programs into a new NKCDC department, as well as managing projects and initiatives in support of community health and addressing social determinants of health. The Director will be responsible for visioning, implementing, and integrating plans for Community Health Worker (CHW) training and employment, SNAP-Ed nutrition education, and the Nourish program. They will function as a strategist and advocate for healthy neighborhoods with a responsibility for managing department resources to improve the community’s access to health resources, nutrition education, and food assistance. They will bring strong leadership and management skills into a creative and productive workplace culture that centers its work in Trauma-Informed Community Development, food justice, and REDI (Race, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion) work in the organization and with partners.
