Would you like to be more effective at the Zoning Board of Adjustment?  This session will provide ideas and tips from Paul Boni, Esquire, a Philadelphia lawyer who represents neighbors and groups challenging inappropriate development.  Learn to focus on the key issues.  Learn how to identify the vulnerabilities in the developer’s case.  Learn how to protect your rights.  Bring your questions.

Paul Boni, Esquire has been practicing zoning and historic preservation law for many years.  He focuses on representing neighbors and community groups. 

Relationship Building w/ Gloria Cartagena

Come hear how times have changed, and remained the same, from then and now in our communities. Gloria Cartagena will explain how older neighbors feel along with newer neighbors and the family values these two groups share. Through her work with Somerset Neighbors for a Better Living, Ms. Cartagena has become a relationship building powerhouse in Kensington. If you would like to bring all neighbors together to make a difference, this session is not one to miss.

Plan or Be Planned For w/ De’ Wayne Drummond

Understand the reasons why zoning has evolved as an important tool of planning. Through real examples, learn what a zoning variance, special exception, and remapping are. Gain a better understanding of how to navigate the code and use it to understand what can be built on a lot and what approvals a project needs. You’ll also learn what zoning doesn’t control, as well as the parts of the zoning code that help preserve neighborhood character.
