Can We Talk? A Regional Dialogue for Divided Times

National Liberty Museum
Mar 23, 2019 10:00am - 4:00pm

We’d love for you to join us for an event that we hope will help prove that Americans can talk policy and politics in a way that leads to insights, not insults, to learning, not lashing out.

Since the 2016 election, we’ve been testing and improving a forum format we call Can We Talk? It’s designed to help people from the left, right and center have a productive conversation about the state of the nation. It’s been tried and worked on college campuses in Philly and New York City, and with a variety of faith communities.

We’re going to hold a Can We Talk? for the full, diverse, opinionated Philadelphia regional community. Then, in a separate afternoon workshop, we’re going to share some of the theory and techniques that we use to help diverse groups hold useful conversations about challenging issues.

10:00 AMCommunity Dialogue Take part in a rewarding conversation about the state of the nation.
1:00 PMSkills Workshop Learn about tools to foster useful dialogue in your workplace, your community, or at the holiday table.

You can put what you learn at this session to use at work, online, in your community or at the family holiday table.

We’d love for you to be part of one or both of those events. You can attend either or both sessions. The morning session is free; the afternoon has a modest fee. Afternoon participants will receive lunch. Space is limited.
