Founded in 1980, Mt. Airy CDC’s mission is to preserve, empower, and advance a vibrant and diverse Mt. Airy by stimulating community-centered neighborhood development.
The CDC works towards its mission in four program areas: 1) Housing Counseling, 2) Real Estate Development, 3) Business Services, and 4) Community Programs.

Position Overview:
The Business Services Coordinator oversees commercial corridor management, small business support, and entrepreneur education in Northwest Philadelphia’s Mt. Airy neighborhood. Duties include the following:
● Serve as Commercial Corridor Manager for the 6300-7600 blocks of Germantown Avenue, visiting all businesses in that area on a quarterly basis at a minimum.
● Develop professional relationships with local merchants. Understand and evaluate their needs.
● Provide technical assistance and referrals to small business owners to help them access city services, grant and loan opportunities, and other business development resources.
● Manage MACDC’s Philly iHub entrepreneur education classes, including:
○ Recruitment of cohort participants from the local and citywide small business community.
○ Vetting and interviewing cohort applicants
○ Coordination with and oversight of program consultants/instructors, including review of program curricula.
○ Collection of data and success stories around program participants, progress, and outcomes.
○ Assisting cohort members in achieving successful outcomes through check-ins, responding to support requests, and referrals to supplemental services as appropriate.
● Provide staff support for the Go Mt. Airy Business Association, including organizing monthly meetings, managing membership recruitment and renewals, and other tasks as determined by the Association.
● Collaborate with the Communications Manager to develop monthly business newsletters.
● Organize periodic promotions to help Business Association members market themselves.
● In collaboration with the Mt. Airy BID, inform business owners about resources for storefront improvement, renovations, and beautification. Assist with project organization and implementation as needed.
● Provide assistance with planning and organization of the Northwest Philly Small Business Summit.
● Support the implementation of economic development goals in the Mt. Airy 2025 Neighborhood Plan.
● Develop positive relationships with neighborhood and institutional stakeholders.
● Represent the interests of Mt. Airy CDC at the PACDC’s Commercial Corridor Working Group.
● Provide staff support for business engagement work for MACDC programs, events, and special projects.
● Manage the Work Mt. Airy coworking space:
○ Work with the ED and Communications Manager to ensure that
the space is being properly marketed
○ Provide tours and answer questions for prospective users
○ Serve as a liaison between users and the space reservation
platform to ensure seamless and successful rental experiences.
○ Provide and revoke access to users and rental clients.
○ Order and maintain inventory of common supplies for the space,
informing building ownership and ED of any maintenance issues.
