The Policy Team at PACDC has also been busy providing testimony over the past month. On February 20th Andy Toy provided testimony in support of Bill # 240010 which would prohibit unregulated games that serve as a means of gambling that have become major nuisances on a number of commercial corridors across our City, especially in lower income neighborhoods. On March 12th Garrett O’Dwyer and a number of members provided testimony at the City’s CAPER hearing on a range of affordable housing and community development needs and solutions consistent with our Equitable Development Policy Platform. On March 21st Andy also provided testimony at a hearing on Act 135 about the importance of having a range of tools to combat blight while also having robust protections for low-income homeowners. PACDC also provided written testimony in support of Bill #240087 that mandates that tax filing services disclose that there are free filing services available with the goal of saving hardworking families from paying unnecessary fees to benefit from programs like the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Child Tax Credit.
