Delaware Estuary seeks Engagement Specialist

Organizational Overview:

Partnership for the Delaware Estuary (PDE) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and improving the health of the Delaware Estuary, which supplies clean drinking water for millions of people and provides valuable resources for businesses, governments, and communities, including those that are overburdened or economically distressed. PDE pursues clean waters, healthy habitats, and strong communities by:

•Leading science-based efforts to prevent pollution, protect wetlands, and restore mussels and oysters;
•Partnering with government agencies, nonprofits, corporations, and the public to restore the vital waters that nourish our communities; and
•Fostering care and support for the health of the entire estuary through festivals, workshops, river cleanups and other special events.

Position Overview:

The Engagement Specialist supports the Partnership for the Delaware Estuary’s Engagement Team through a variety of water-related activities. The Specialist will assist in engaging the public through stormwater education and helping to improve drinking water sources by facilitating connections with partner organizations.

JOB FUNCTIONS
Support stormwater-related education and outreach activities in Philadelphia and Wilmington, and in the surrounding area:
•Assist with coordinating festivals, programs and volunteer events.
•Help create public-facing materials, such as flyers and social media posts.
•Foster new partnerships with local community and environmental organizations.
•Help engage teachers and students through environmental lessons related to watersheds, native plants, freshwater mussels, and related topics.

Assist with the facilitation of the Schuylkill Action Network:
•Support logistics and promotion of SAN outreach programs and events, such as Schuylkill Scrub, Schuylkill Action Students, SAN Bus Tour and SANnual Meeting
•Coordinate SAN social media and email communications.
•Perform updates of relevant events, news and grant programs on schuylkillwaters.org website.
•Assist with elements of facilitation of new source water protection network, Delaware River Improvement Program.
•Assist with the planning and execution of local outreach events.
•Serve as an ambassador for PDE and SAN at public events.
•Identifies business opportunities to improve PDE engagement.
•Perform other activities as assigned.
