SEAMAAC seeks Truancy Case Management Program Assistant

Organizational Overview:

SEAMAAC is a nonprofit organization in Philadelphia, with the mission “To support and serve immigrants and refugees and other politically, socially and economically marginalized communities as they seek to advance the condition of their lives in the United States.” SEAMAAC envisions a strong and unified society, where immigrants and refugees work alongside other Americans to build shared political, economic and social power. We envision a community where the contributions of each generation of Americans, whether Native to this land, immigrant, or brought against their will, are equally acknowledged, valued and embraced, and where all people live whole, healthy lives with joy and dignity.

Position Overview:

SEAMAAC’s Truancy Case Management (TCM) program works in partnership with Philadelphia’s Office of Children and Families (OCF) and School District of Philadelphia to improve school attendance and academic achievement through early intervention and case management services for at-risk children, youth and their families. The Program Assistant (PA) will primarily provide assistance for overall program operations. The PA will serve as a liaison between NE Regional Court staff and the team, provide coverage on court dates to ensure staff arrival, court paperwork submission, and client representation as well as conduct client satisfaction surveys to students and families in court waiting areas and then compile findings. The PA will lead NE school partner communications for monthly student performance and record retrievals. The PA will complete data entry of referrals into multiple databases and compile database reviews of client data needs. The PA will steward emergency fund requests from the TCM team and complete monthly reports of purchases. The PA will maintain training records, complete registrations, and coordinate on-site professional development. The PA will support the recruitment and onboarding process for new members on the TCM team. Incoming phone calls and mailings will be directed from the main office front desk to the PA. Projects and activities will be occasionally assigned to support the capacity of the TCM team and organizational-wide initiatives. TCM staff work in a fast-pace and high-pressure environment, handling multiple and simultaneous priorities, balancing the needs of families, requirements from funders and adherence to tight schedules and strict deadlines. The program goals are to resolve truancy issues and facilitate families’ ability to develop positive relationships that promote well-being and permanency of children in the home and school environment.
