City of Phila seeks Program Manager, Citizens Planning Institute

The Department of Planning and Development (DPD) includes the city’s housing agencies, planning commission, art commission, historical commission, zoning board of adjustment, developer services, and more.

The Philadelphia City Planning Commission (PCPC) is one agency within the department, and includes the Citizens Planning Institute (CPI) as a means of educating and empowering the public. PCPC staff updates the city’s comprehensive plan and weighs in on decisions related to the built environment of the city, all with continued engagement with the public.

Citizens Planning Institute staff coordinates with PCPC, and runs programs that educate community members to engage with city, to have a voice in decisions that affect their neighborhoods, and to collaborate with their neighbors to lead their own successful projects.

The Program Manager position is responsible for managing the day to day operations of the Citizens Planning Institute. The position will assist the Director of CPI in developing policies to enhance the CPI program and to advance initiatives identified in its five-year program. The position reports to the Director of the Citizens Planning Institute.

Summary of Duties:
– Managing the delivery of the semi-annual course series including leading engagement and recruitment, administering applications, and coordinating logistics for weekly classes.
– Managing marketing and communications including website/social media/quarterly newsletter, creating content for the Citizens Toolkit, and distributing the materials.
– Manage Advisory Board meeting logistics and preparation.
– Manage the Alumni Committee.
– Assist with development of new CPI programs and logistics.
